I'm thrilled to announce I'm co-directing a new production of Clifford Odets' Golden Boy along with Aaron Latham. It's a beautiful story of the perils and and heartache of finding and following your passions.
Joe Bonaparte’s potential to become a concert violinist hits a detour when boxing manager Tom Moody and fight promoter Roxy Gottlieb steer him towards greatness in the boxing ring. As his athletic star begins to rise, Joe is torn between loyalty to his art and family, and the allure of fame and fortune. As mobster Eddie Fuseli promises him glory, and girlfriend Lorna Moon (Moody’s fiancé) promises him love, Joe faces the biggest dilemma of his life: to win the crown or to set himself free.
The production also supports a group called StoPD (Support and Training to Overcome Parkinson's Disease), and will be a testament to the strength of the Parkinson's community as the cast features professional actors who are living with Parkinson's disease in two of the major roles. In addition, many of our production and creative team members have Parkinson's, and have devoted themselves to creating this unique and memorable production.
